Meeting between the President of the Republic His Excellency Mr. Jovenel Moïse and the Vice-President of the United States of America Mr. Mike Pence
Port-au-Prince, Thursday, June 15, 2017.- The President of the Republic, His Excellency Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Rodrigue, his Chief of Staff, Mr. Wilson Laleau Haitian Ambassador to Washington Paul Altidor met on June 15, 2017 at the International University of Florida (FIU) campus, US Vice President Mike Pence to Discussions on issues raised with US Secretary of Homeland Security Mr. John Kelly at the National Palace on 31 May.
This important meeting was also held within the framework of the strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two countries. Emphasis was placed on foreign direct investment to create jobs in the country so that Haiti instead of being a humanitarian destination becomes an investment destination with a new leadership devoted to the welfare of the people Haitian.
The issue of strengthening Haitian institutions was also discussed. The United States of America, through its Vice President, promised to help Haiti strengthen its National Police, including the Coast Guard.
The Head of State is currently in Miami as part of the Haitian-American Business Summit organized by the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce in Florida.
